Coro Perosi is a non-profit making music organization established since 1997. Since then, we had organized several concerts and had been invited for performances in Hong Kong and Zhongshan. By year 2002, we had participated in the 6th International Music Festival in Beijing, China; and had won the copper prize. Besides regular practices, we also invite individual voice soloists to train our members. We are an energetic choir in Macau.
Sistine Chapel Choir
Reverberating Heavenly Tunes in Greater China (Concert in Macau）
Organized by Coro Perosi of Macau, the 'Sistine Chapel Choir: Reverberating Heavenly Tunes in Greater China (Concert in Macau)' will be held on 19 September of 2014 (6 p.m.) at the Cathedral of Macau.
The president of Coro Perosi, Young Lam, conductor João Ng, Choir Master of the Sistine Chapel Choir (Capella Musicale Pontificia “Sistina”) Monsignor Massimo Palombella and Administrator Dr. Michelangelo Nardella were present in the press conference held at the Bishop’s House on 17 July at 3 p.m.
A delegation of 70 from the Sistine Chapel Choir will visit Asia for the very first time in September, and will perform in Greater China, in the order of Macau - Hong Kong - Taipei. This tour performance is organized and promoted by The Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture. The concert in Macau will be organized by Coro Perosi.
The Sistine Chapel Choir sings at all the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff. Its origins can be traced back to the early centuries of the church, and was re-organised in the fifteenth century and became the Pope’s personal Choir, carrying the name “Sistine Chapel” (Capella Musicale Pontificia “Sistina”). This is historically the Choir's first visit in Asia. They have chosen to perform in the Greater China and to conduct cultural exchange using their voices. The Choir has been described as another key cultural missionary ever since Marco Polo visited China.
The Choir is known throughout the world for their pure, beautiful harmony. What is worth special mention is that of the three concerts to be held in Macau, Hong Kong and Taipei, only the one in Macau will be presented in a World Heritage Site, namely, the Cathedral of Macau, where the Choir will bring to Macau traditional sacred music as well as warmth and joy.
Tickets are needed for admission to the concert in Macau. Free admission tickets are available from the Livraria São Paulo (Travessa do Bispo, No. 11C, R/C) from 6 September. Each person is allowed a maximum of two tickets.
